First pile driven for new pier in Emden seaport
Strong signal for a strong port
Construction work on the large ship berth (GSLP) in Emden's outer harbor has begun. This will create an additional terminal area of 23,200 square meters for the seaport of Emden. This corresponds to an area of slightly more than three soccer fields. The berth will be designed for ships up to 265 meters in length, 36.5 meters in width, and 10.70 meters in draft. The construction of the pier to close the gap between Emskai and Emspier fulfills a long-standing demand of the Emden port industry. It would like to thank the Lower Saxony state government for this and wishes Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG and the construction companies involved a smooth and timely completion by the end of 2027. The cost of the construction is estimated at up to €70 million. EHFG CEO Reinhard Hegewald describes the sum as “money very well spent” for the port of Emden.
Wo heute noch diese Lücke im Emder Außenhafen besteht, wird bis Ende 2027 der GSLP entstehen.
