Wilhelmshaven, 16.04.2026 Wilhelmshaven, April 16, 2026 – As of May 1, 2026, Holger Banik will assume the position of Managing Director of the state-owned Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort Marketing GmbH & Co. KG (JWP-M), succeeding Marc-Oliver Hauswald, who has led the company since August 2023. Mr. Hauswald’s contract ends as scheduled due to the expiration of its fixed term.

The 58-year-old Bremen native, Holger Banik, is very familiar with the Lower Saxony port landscape. Since January 1, 2014, he has served as Managing Director of JadeWeserPort Realisierungs GmbH & Co. KG and Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG. After completing his Abitur, Banik trained as an industrial clerk and, following his military service, studied business administration in Marburg and Giessen. Between 1996 and 2007, he gained extensive management experience in rail freight transport at Deutsche Bahn AG, working in finance, controlling, commercial affairs, as well as planning and reporting. In 2007, he moved to the port management company bremenports GmbH & Co. KG as Commercial Director, becoming Chief Commercial Officer in 2011. In his future role, Banik will also be responsible for marketing the port, attracting new businesses, and developing areas within the freight village (GVZ) at JadeWeserPort.

The Lower Saxony Minister of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JWP-M, Grant Hendrik Tonne, stated: “I would like to thank Marc-Oliver Hauswald for his work and dedication during an important phase for the port location. The focus now is on the development areas in the freight village and additional areas owned by the company on the Voslapper Groden, as well as planning a demand-oriented expansion of the JadeWeserPort.
