Demand for specialized port logistics is growing - High response at the Niedersachsen-Abend with State Secretary Wunderling-Weilbier
Munich, 04.06.2025 | The heart of the international logistics world is beating in Munich these days, where transport logistic, the world's leading trade fair for the industry, is taking place until Thursday. Together with numerous co-exhibitors from the port industry, Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH is once again showcasing the diversity and strength of Niedersachsens seaports. Once again, the Niedersachsen-Abend at the trade fair stand of Niedersachsens port and logistics industry contributed to networking with customers and provided an opportunity to discuss current developments and new services. The event was opened by Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier, the new State Secretary in Niedersachsens Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport and Building.
With its high-performance seaports and versatile logistics and freight transport centers, Niedersachsen is considered the logistical heart of Europe. Under the organizational management of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH, the port and logistics location of Niedersachsen will be exhibiting in Munic at a large joint stand, which also includes the state-owned port companies Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG and Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort Marketing GmbH & Co. KG and Logistikportal Niedersachsen e.V. as a logistics network. “Networking strengths, gathering new ideas and impulses, sharing knowledge. Our joint stand at transport logistic in Munich not only brings our port companies new business contacts and many opportunities to exchange ideas with customers, but ultimately also creates a common identity for the port and logistics industry in Niedersachsen,” says Inke Onnen-Lübben, Managing Director of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH, delighted with the successful cooperation with all of Niedersachsens major players in the port and logistics industry at transport logistic.
Niedersachsens seaports are in demand: services in the areas of handling, port logistics and transportation are becoming increasingly complex across all goods groups and must be reconciled with the availability of appropriate space as well as infra- and suprastructures. Customer discussions in Munich therefore often focus on innovative concepts, the greatest possible flexibility and strong networks in order to design sustainable and economical transport chains involving the seaports in Niedersachsen. Challenges here include the ongoing tense geopolitical and economic situation, as well as the uncertainty surrounding future trade relations.
Tuesday's Niedersachsen-Abend, the stand reception for Niedersachsen as a port and logistics location, was primarily about networking and was attended by well over 200 guests. Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier, the new State Secretary in Niedersachsens Ministry of Economic Affairs since May 20, also took the opportunity after his official welcoming speech to exchange ideas with the numerous representatives of the seaport transport industry.
The alumni reunion of the Department of Maritime Studies and Logistics at Jade University of Applied Sciences has also become a good tradition. On Wednesday, former students of the department, who have found their professional home in various positions in the logistics industry, used the Seaports trade fair stand for a reunion. The port industry in Niedersachsen not only benefits from the well-trained graduates of the Jade University, but also regularly cooperates with the university in study projects.
