Brake, 03 March 2025 - J. MÜLLER Weser announces personnel changes in the management board, effective from 01 March 2025. The reorganisation is an important step in the long-term development of the company.
Ms Manuela Drews will take over responsibility for operations (operations including quality management) as Managing Director from 1 March 2025, succeeding Mr Martin Krahl. She was previously Head of Central Services, which includes Controlling, Finance, Accounting and Human Resources. Human Resources will remain her area of responsibility in the future. ‘I am looking forward to working with our dedicated team to further develop the operational processes and ensure the future viability of our company,’ says Manuela Drews.
Mr Martin Krahl will remain in management as Managing Director and will continue to drive forward important development projects until his retirement in 2026. ‘The coming years offer exciting challenges and opportunities that I would like to prepare together with our teams,’ says Martin Krahl.
Mr Clemens Sommerfeld joins the management team and takes over responsibility for finance, including controlling and financial accounting, from Ms Manuela Drews. He also manages the Ship Services division, including clearing and inland shipping, as well as the coffee sector at the Bremen site. He has been with the company since September 2024. He was previously Managing Director of the family-owned Binnenschiffskontor Sommerfeld. ‘I am looking forward to further optimising the financial management of the company and further expanding our coffee business in Bremen and the Ship Services division,’ says Clemens Sommerfeld.
The management of the other divisions will remain unchanged. Thomas Bielefeld, Spokesman of the Management Board of J. MÜLLER Weser and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of J. MÜLLER AG, will continue to be responsible for the Agricultural Products and Other Goods divisions. Jens Ripken, Deputy Spokesman of the Management Board of J. MÜLLER Weser and member of the Management Board of J. MÜLLER AG, is in charge of the General Cargo and Technology divisions.
With this reorganisation, J. MÜLLER Weser is focusing on a structured generational change and future-oriented management at an early stage. ‘With these personnel changes, we are setting the course for the successful further development of our company,’ says the management. The Management Board of J. MÜLLER Aktiengesellschaft continues to consist of Jan Müller (Chairman and CEO), Thomas Bielefeld (Deputy Chairman and COO) and Jens Ripken (COO).
