Wilhelmshaven, July 15, 2026 | Since early July, offshore wind farms have been regularly supplied from the seaport of Wilhelmshaven. On behalf of Vattenfall, Jade Dienst GmbH is now handling, on a 14-day cycle, the loading and storage of spare parts, supplies, and other materials needed to operate the wind farms.
The offshore wind farms DanTysk (about 70 kilometers west of Sylt) and Sandbank (about 90 kilometers west of Sylt) will be supplied. In addition to material logistics, Wilhelmshaven will also serve as the location for crew rotations for both technicians and ship crews in the future.
Offshore wind farms have long been a key component of the energy transition. Because wind speeds at sea are stronger and more consistent than on land, these farms generate large amounts of renewable electricity. With Wilhelmshaven serving as a supply hub, the seaport’s importance as a hub for sustainable energy continues to grow.
The event kicked off on July 1 with the first call of the MV Acta Auriga. The 93.4-meter-long specialized vessel, built in 2018, was unloaded and reloaded in just a few hours at the Jade Dienst GmbH facilities in the inner harbor of Wilhelmshaven, thereby being prepared for its deployment in offshore wind farms.
Special TP cranes designed for use on offshore wind farms were also transshipped onto the MV Acta Auriga in Wilhelmshaven
