PRESS RELEASE

New maritime service company launched in Wilhelmshaven

Jade-Dienst GmbH is bundling its maritime services in the new subsidiary JD Offshore GmbH and, among other things, is now offering special vessels for transfer services in offshore wind farms, so-called Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV).

The politically driven expansion of renewable energies will also revitalize the offshore wind industry in the coming years and trigger a strong demand for ships, port and personnel capacities as well as maritime and logistic services. Specialized companies from the maritime sector that offer adapted solutions will be needed. "The fledgling maritime company JD Offshore GmbH is essentially a shipping company, but will also offer logistical and port services, drawing on the expertise of the entire Jade-Dienst Group," explains Knut Gerdes as Managing Director of JD Offshore GmbH. It was founded by the parent company Jade-Dienst GmbH at the instigation of the main shareholders of J. Johannsen & Sohn KG from Lübeck and Hamburg Lines Men GmbH from Hamburg. The wholly owned subsidiary JD Offshore GmbH will in future be active as a maritime service provider in the recently revived offshore wind industry. The three christened vessels are second-hand Crew Transfer Vessels that have been used for years in transferring personnel to the wind turbines at sea. They had already been active in Europe for a number of years before being acquired by shareholder J. Johannsen & Sohn KG and brought under the German flag. "Building up a fleet of suitable watercraft is one of the declared goals of JD Offshore GmbH, which is becoming active here as a ship operator. In addition, a newbuilding program is being pursued in order to secure the foreseeable requirements in the coming years for the customers," explains Michael Schaefer as owner of the vessels and managing director of the shareholder J. Johannsen & Sohn KG from Lübeck.

JD Offshore's field of activity remains primarily the market in the North Sea and Baltic Sea and the surrounding EU domestic market. "Jade-Dienst GmbH already has unique selling points in the northwest and throughout the coastal region as a mooring company and logistical and technical service provider, and is already excellently positioned in the combination of its services," emphasizes Timo Schön as Managing Director of Jade-Dienst GmbH. Engine maintenance has been made independent as JD Engine Repair GmbH in order to professionalize these services and offer them in the markets surrounding the sustainable energy industry. For example, with Jade-Dienst GmbH's own locksmith shop and JD Engine Repair GmbH, repairs for ships and boats are offered in Wilhelmshaven and by means of workshop vans at customers' locations coast-wide.
